Apples and Bees Mandala By Jane, Patterns and mandalas

The word mandala means circle, and is used to represent any pattern which describes the universe from a human perspective. This is a minute part of the universe, but every bit as important.

The natural world is all about patterns and how they fit together. Jane found it fascinating, and thoroughly enjoyed creating this circle of butterflies and bees and apples, in the style of a mandala. Without the bees, we wouldn't get the apples.

The lino cut is hand printed in blue and green ink onto handmade paper made from lokta or hemp. It is hand-finished with inks. The circle measures 15cm in diameter and is printed onto paper approximately 23cm square.
